You are invited to a presentation by our 2009 Distinguished Research Award Winner, Dr. Claudia Gorbman. Professor of Film Studies in the Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences program, Dr. Gorbman has written widely on music and sound in film. This lecture, which will include film clips, considers what music does and how it can mean, by exploring two approaches to film music, the rhetorical and the aesthetic. How do you listen to movies, and what do you hear?
