Award criteria

  • Stimulates and supports active and continuous learning.
  • Demonstrates excellence and continued development in own teaching.
  • Inspires excellence in the achievements of students.
  • Promotes thoughtful openness to a broad range of students’ questions.
  • Develops and/or utilizes creative instructional methods. Integrates scholarship into teaching.
  • Integrates multiple perspectives in own teaching.
  • Provides for significant individualized student learning through advising, mentoring, field work, independent study or graduate projects, for example.
  • Demonstrates leadership in curriculum development.
  • Integrates knowledge of community into teaching/learning (in the classroom, fieldwork or off campus lectures, etc.).
  • Demonstrates philosophy of teaching in use of pedagogy and selection of course content to meet student/learner needs.
