Admissions Advising
During the pre-admissions process, admission advisers, recruiters, and evaluators in the Office of Enrollment Services are available to you. They match your interests to the appropriate program, make sure your records are received and evaluate your credits. Enrollment Services will continue to support you in your stay at UW Tacoma through the many services of the UW Tacoma Counseling Center, as well as Financial Aid and Veterans' Affairs.
Business Advising
Business advisers are available for appointments Monday through Thursday between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Drop in appointments are available for current business students Tuesday and Wednesday between 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Graduation application appointments are not scheduled same day and are not seen during drop in appointments.
Academic advisers in the Milgard School provide general program advising including:
- Application workshops
- New Student Orientation
- Information about meeting admission requirements
- Clarifying formal option requirements (see Change of Formal Option/Informal Option
) - Approving transfer credits toward the formal option/informal option
- Planning and tracking progress in the formal option/informal option
- Evaluating your plan for graduation
- Completing the paperwork necessary for graduation
- Referrals to other resources (counseling, faculty, etc.)
Faculty Advisors
Business faculty members serve the following advising functions:
- Help you fine-tune your study through course selections
- Approve alternative courses for option requirements
- Provide mentoring during coursework and independent studies
- Help you articulate the link between your option and your future goals, including:
- Pathways to careers
- Graduate study
