Registration Tips

The UWT Registration Guide and the UW Time Scheduleexternal UW Web site contain a large amount of information on registration, class listings, tuition deadlines, important dates for the quarter, and final exam schedules. You register for classes using MyUW.

Do I Need an Advising Appointment Before Registering?

If you have met with an academic adviser at least once and have declared a option, you are in a good position to register every quarter, using your degree plan to make sure you take the proper classes. However, you should see an adviser if you have any of these issues:

  • you are within 45 credits of your degree
  • you have outstanding admission deficiencies (like foreign language)
  • you are not sure where new courses fit in your option
  • there are some details that need to be handled (missing transcripts, etc.)

Some options are easier to understand than others. You can always e-mail an adviser with a "quick question" about your choice of courses to double-check if they are appropriate for your option. Send your questions to the undergraduate advising e-mail.

More Tips

  • As enrollment increases, more restrictions will be placed on popular classes. Declare your option early to make sure the courses you need are open to you.
  • The UW Academic Calendarexternal UW Web site can help you find important deadlines/dates such as registration, adding/dropping classes.
  • Consult the UWT Registration Guide or the UW Time Scheduleexternal UW Web site to determine if you will need entry codes for any of your classes. Entry codes for business classes must be requested by sending e-mail to business@u.washington.edu. Your full name and student number along with the SLN of the class is required.

Tuition

Tuition is due about 2 weeks after the beginning of the quarter, not at the time of registration. It is your responsibility to pay the tuition on time even if you never received a bill. If you do not pay your tuition on time you will not be able to register for the following quarter or obtain copies of your transcript. Check the tuition deadline every quarter on MyUW or in the UWT Registration Guide and pay it on time.
