Campus Master Plan 2008 Update:
Community Advisory Committee
The Community Advisory Board for the UW Tacoma Master Plan Update will advise the university on a wide-range of issues—from the process of soliciting feedback to potential impacts of proposed changes to the campus. This group is composed of members of groups that have expressed strong interest in UW Tacoma’s growth, including neighborhood associations, city and county government, the business community including local merchants, civic and community groups, and the UW Tacoma Advisory Board.
UW Tacoma will also attend meetings of groups and associations to discuss the Update and anyone can provide feedback online.
Members of the former UW Tacoma Traffic and Economic Study Project Advisory have been invited to participate in the new Community Advisory Board. The Traffic and Economic Study Project Advisory Group was formed over a year ago when UW Tacoma was studying the impact of potential street closures. Two major changes occurred that made it clear the scope of the original group was too narrow and the time horizon was too short. First, the decision was made to develop Phase 3B in buildings to the east of Market Street rather crossing the street to the west. Secondly, the state designated UW Tacoma a four-year campus in 2006 and the campus began enrolling freshmen and sophomores for the first time last fall. The unique needs of this new mix of students compelled UW Tacoma to launch a process to update its Master Plan.
The membership list of the Community Advisory Board for the UW Tacoma Master Plan Update is not completely confirmed. Names will be posted once participants are official.
