Process and schedule
The UW Tacoma Master Plan Update process is scheduled for completion in summer of 2008. Details of the process may be modified as the work unfolds to allow for flexibility and responsiveness. The project has three phases:
Phase One: Information gathering (Winter 2008)
- Data gathering – square footage needs
- Campus groups meetings
- Meetings with municipal service providers (transit, utilities, etc.)
- Summit with regional higher education institutions
- Campus-wide charette
Phase Two: Evaluation of options (Spring 2008)
- Develop supplemental options
- Present/revise options to campus representatives and stakeholders
- Meetings with community groups, businesses and special interest stakeholders
- Meetings with city staff and departments as well as City Council
- Meetings with UW Seattle stakeholders and Board of Regents
- Refine preferred option and schedule for campus approval
Phase Three: Presentation of final plans (Summer 2008)
- Prepare Master Plan Update
- Present Update to all stakeholders (campus, community, City of Tacoma) and revise as necessary
- Present Update to Tacoma City Council seeking support
- Complete all Master Plan Update documents for distribution
Presentation for approval to the University of Washington Board of Regents will occur early autumn 2008.
