UW TACOMA USE OF UNIVERSITY FACILITIES (UUF) IMPLEMENTATION COMMITTEE

Charge

The Committee on the Use of University Facilities (Central UUF) of the University of Washington, which has delegated control of all University facilities by the President through the Board of Regents, has delegated responsibility for final approval with respect to the use of UW Tacoma facilities to the UW Tacoma UUF Implementation Committee (Implementation Committee), provided that the Implementation Committee shall consult with the Central UUF on requests that are novel or likely to be controversial.  The members and the Secretary of the Implementation Committee will be appointed by the Chancellor of UW Tacoma.  The Implementation Committee will operate in accordance with the University of Washington Guidelines on Use of UW Tacoma Facilities, adopted by the Central UUF on January 31, 2008.  These guidelines are in compliance with WAC 478-136.

Membership

The UW Tacoma UUF Implementation Committee will consist of:

  • The Secretary of the Implementation Committee (may be chosen from the membership below);
  • The Director of Facilities
  • The Director of Information Technology;
  • The Director of Campus Security;
  • The Director of Continuing Studies/Conference Services;
  • The Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Services;
  • The Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs;
  • One representative of the UW Tacoma Faculty Assembly;
  • One representative of the ASUWT; and
  • One member at-large from the campus community.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides for the proper review of the use of UW Tacoma facilities;
  • Makes recommendations to the Central UUF regarding the establishment of guidelines and procedures governing the use of UW Tacoma facilities within the framework of WAC 478-136;
  • Approves and disapproves requested uses of UW Tacoma facilities consistent with University of Washington and Central UUF policies and the Guidelines on the Use of UW Tacoma Campus Facilities.  The approval process is embedded in on-line procedures for room reservations, with the Implementation Committee generally reviewing only those requests where questions or ambiguities regarding compliance with University policies or procedures are raised;
  • Establishes fees and rental schedules for UW Tacoma facilities consistent with University of Washington and Central UUF policies;
  • Has oversight responsibility for assuring that requested uses of UW Tacoma facilities are in compliance with University of Washington policies and procedures;
  • Assists in the coordination of institutional support for the approved use of UW Tacoma facilities.  This assistance is generally provided through the on-line room reservation process, but may also involve meetings of support staff that plan for the special needs of approved events;
  • The Secretary of the Implementation Committee serves as a member of the Central UUF. 

Meeting Times

The Implementation Committee meets on a monthly basis to discuss those requests which the Secretary, in his or her discretion, believes raise questions or ambiguities regarding compliance with University policy and UW Tacoma Guidelines and other issues related to its duties and responsibilities.  The Implementation Committee meets in accordance with the procedure and policies of the Open Meeting Act (RCW 42.30).
