Data Storage for Faculty and Staff (H: and S: Drives)

Computer Services of UWT has set up personal network drives, namely the 'H' drive, (your secure personal space) and the 'S' drive (open access collaboration space) for your data storage. You are ultimately responsible for making copies of (backing up) any files you create before your account is disabled or deleted.

All files and folders you create should be put on your personal network drive -- the 'H' drive or the 'S' drive.

Files and folders placed on the 'H:' and 'S:' drives will be backed up by Computer Services. Such backups do not last forever -- the availability of files for restoration is subject to time and backup media space. The sooner you notice lost or deleted files or folders, the better the chances are we will be able to restore the files or folders for you.

The 'H:' drive - your personal, secure, storage space on the UWT servers. This space is restricted to 2GB. If your storage exceeds this limit your account will be disabled.

The 'S:' drive - an open access location used to temporarily storing files that can be accessed by many users.

NOTE: No files should be placed on the local disk drive (the 'C:' drive). Files placed on the local hard disk will be deleted, and are unrecoverable.
