Innovative Technology LabLocated in WG 208, the Innovative Technology Laboratory has been expanded from showcasing the broadband connectivity and portable computers to many other new initiatives, including the new Technology Sandbox. In the lab, you can compare the network connection of cable modem and satellite modem, along with the campus LAN and UWick 56 kbps phone modem, as well as classroom technologies and collaboration learning software. We showcase many classroom technologies, including podcasting hardware, smart white board, document camera and ten different ways of remotely presenting the PowerPoint slides in the classroom. In addition, we have set up WLAN (802.11a, 11b, 11g and blue-tooth) in the lab, along with laptops, Mac I-book and Tablet PCs. The latest addition soon available in the Innovative Technology Lab is the Technology Sandbox, which will consist of such collaborative learning software as AristoClass, and also other teaching tools including the MDID Digital Image Database from James Madison University and Class-In-Hand PDA software from Wake Forest University. You are welcome to bring your students to visit the lab. You and your students may test the different broadband connections or evaluate other hardware and software in the lab. The lab is also available for the local community. Feel free to invite community groups to visit the lab. Please submit a Computer Services Help request to arrange for a visit. The Technology Sandbox is only available for faculty at this point. Instructors can make arrangement with Computer Services to obtain card key access to try out the various items of the Technology Sandbox. Some faculty training and student workshops will also be conducted in this lab. Specific training activities can be found in the CTLT web page.
