Phase 3: Joy Building Renovation

Joy Building

Built in 1892, the Russell T. Joy Building at 1716-1730 Pacific Avenue has been vacant since 1997 and its renovation will complete the Pacific Avenue frontage of campus. The building is listed on the Tacoma and national historic registers. It will house much-needed classroom space, labs and faculty and administrative offices, including a new office suite for Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences. Along Pacific Avenue, space will be leased to retail.

Work is expected to begin in Summer 2009 with completion in Spring 2011. The architect for the renovation is Thomas Hacker Architects.
