Student Technology Training

The following UWT Student Technology Workshops are paid for by your Student Technology Fees and are available for current UWT students. A UW NetId and login are necessary to register for the workshops. The first time you register for a technology workshop, after you have logged in, the computer will prompt you for your name, email, phone, etc.

These workshops are taught by the UWT Swat Team, who are members of the staff of the Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology ( TLC ).

Please be on time for the workshops. Please withdraw from any workshops you cannot attend. If you have a problem registering, send an email to: tachelp@u.washington.edu . For other questions or concerns, call (253)692-4417 Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.

UWT Computing Essentials

Learn everything you need to know about using computers at UWT. Please bring your NetID/Email Login and Password to this workshop if you have already created it.

Introduction to Microsoft Excel

This workshop is designed to help students that are taking courses that require a basic knowledge of Excel. It is an introductory course on Excel.

We are not currently accepting registrations for Microsoft Excel

  • Viewing examples of Excel spreadsheets
  • Learning the parts of the screen
  • Working with workbooks and worksheet tabs
  • Selecting, copying & moving data
  • Creating a budget spreadsheet
  • Entering data
  • Inputting simple equations and functions in cells
  • Charting data (pie graphs, bar graphs, line graphs)
  • Printing & page setup tips

Writing with Microsoft Word

Learn not only basic Word skills but also how to use these skills to format a thesis.

  • Using Word Views
  • Navigating in Word Editing & formatting text
  • Using cut, copy and paste functions
  • Using tabs and tables
  • Creating a title page
  • Adding page numbering
  • Using headers & footers

Create presentations with PowerPoint

Learn not only the basics but also many of the bells and whistles you'll need to create powerful PowerPoint presentations.

  • Viewing a PowerPoint demonstration
  • Creating a slide presentation
  • Learning how to use the different PowerPoint views
  • Using PowerPoint toolbars
  • Using the slide masters for consistent formatting

Intermediate Excel

This course could be a follow up to the Introduction to Microsoft Excel Workshop. It would also be a good choice for students that already have a basic knowledge of Excel and want to learn more.
