Biography

Bill Kunz teaches courses on media regulation and ownership, television history and criticism and television writing and video production. He received his Ph.D. at the University of Oregon with a focus in the Political Economy of Communication. His research addresses policies related to the regulation of the broadcast and cable television industries and the consolidation and concentration in the ownership of media outlets.

Prior to joining the IAS faculty he spent five years in the sports division of Turner Broadcasting in Atlanta and served as the Senior Producer for the 1998, 2000 and 2001 Goodwill Games and the cable coverage of the 1998 Olympic Winter Games in Nagano, Japan. Earlier in his television career he was an Associate Producer and Director of Research at ABC Sports, and then spent six years as a freelance producer for ABC Sports, NBC Sports and ESPN.
