Biography
Janice Laakso, Ph.D., MSSW has been a faculty member of UWT since finishing her work as a doctoral student at the University of Texas at Austin in the summer of 1999. Prior to beginning work on her doctorate, she practiced social work for 25 years in settings focused on families, on health, and on teen pregnancy. She also taught at the community college level for almost 20 years in both social work and sociology. Her primary interests include families in poverty, welfare reform, fatherhood issues, social welfare history, social policy, and legislative advocacy.
