Currently all transfer students to the University of Washington Tacoma must complete the following requirements:

Students who are Washington state residents and have completed an approved transfer degree at a Washington state community college with a minimum 2.75 GPA are guaranteed admission to the University. Learn more about the guaranteed admission program.
Students who have met the minimum number of credits and the prerequisites of their program of choice may apply to the academic program at the same time they apply for admission. Admission to the University of Washington Tacoma is a two step process and all students who indicate a major on their application are first admitted as a pre-major. The files for qualified students are then forwarded to the requested academic program for their review.

Students who have completed 75 or more credits are strongly encouraged to apply to an academic program. Additionally, certain courses are limited to students in the major, so admission to a major may facilitate progress to a degree.
