Built in 1903, the Security Building at 917 Pacific Ave was one of two locations UWT occupied before the permanent campus opened in 1996.
The University of Washington Tacoma allows both transfer students coming from other baccalaureate institutions and those coming from community colleges to request that more than 90 credits of lower-division work be accepted as transfer credit. The total number of credits that can be transferred varies by major, as indicated below:
Program |
Max. credits |
|---|---|
| Businss Administration | 105 |
| Institute of Technology | 95 |
| Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences | 135 |
| Nursing | 90 |
| Social Work | 113 |
| Urban Studies | 105 |
In all cases, more than 90 credits will be accepted only if those additional credits can be used to satisfy degree requirements. In other words, if you have free electives you have not already fulfilled, you may fulfill them with lower-division courses so long as those courses meet the normal requirements for transferable lower-division credits.
If you have earned more than 90 transferable lower-division credits, you should consult with an academic adviser to determine if additional elective credits may be awarded.
In order to qualify for baccelaureate honors upon graduation, you must have completed 90 credits at the UW. Students who complete their degrees with fewer than 90 UW credits are eligible for faculty honors but are not eligible for baccelaureate honors.
