What services does TRIO provide?
TRIO advisors meet with students individually and in groups to provide comprehensive college preparation services. Specifically, the following services are offered:
Career Planning
TRIO staff assist students in setting career and life goals by providing information on specific careers, career interest testing and a variety of field trips and guest speakers to help students explore possible careers.
College Exploration and Admissions Information
TRIO will provide students with information on college admission procedures and course requirements, information on college life and activities, and available educational opportunities at different community, technical, private, and state colleges. TRIO can also help students select college and training programs, assist in completing applications and provide fee waivers (as applicable) for college entrance tests and college applications.

TRIO staff will deliver presentations that cover information on private and government aid including grants, scholarships, and loans. Financial aid workshops, and assistance in completing financial aid forms will also be provided.
Field Trips
Students have the opportunity to visit college campuses, participate in college admission presentations, attend college and career fairs, and attend cultural activities and events.
Parental Activities
Parents will be invited and encouraged to attend scheduled workshops on the previously mentioned topics.
After-school Tutoring
Individual and group tutoring sessions will be available at each TRIO school.
Individual Advising
Staff will be available for one-on-one meetings with students. Students can schedule appointments with TRIO staff to receive academic and personal advising, goal setting and any other support that is needed.
How do I qualify for TRIO?
You can be part of TRIO if you:
1. Are a first generation student – meaning neither parent/guardian has a four-year college degree.
OR
2. Meet federal Department of Education income guidelines.
AND
3. Show academic potential – students must have the ability and willingness to study and apply themselves to obtain their academic goals.
If you have questions about your eligibility, please see a TRIO advisor at your school.
