Meet the Staff
Dean graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 1993 with a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education. He has six years experience teaching English and Social Studies at the middle school and high school levels. In June 2002, he earned a Master's in Public Administration from the University of Washington, with concentrated studies in Education and Non-Profit Leadership. For the past 2.5 years he has been the Director of Planning and Evaluation for the Metropolitan Development Council.
Angela graduated from the University of Iowa in 2005 with a degree in health sciences. After spending a year with the AmeriCorps program in Tacoma working with TRIO, Angela accepted a full-time position with for the 2006-07 school year as an Education Advisor for middle school students. Angela works with 150 students from Gray and McIvaigh Middle Schools.
A graduate of Pacific Lutheran University with a B.A. in Sociology and Spanish. Has had extensive work with students in the Tacoma Public School District through many avenues. Worked for 2.5 years as an Education Specialist at Centro Latino SER, working on retention rates of Latino Middle and High School students. From there, worked a year in the mental health field counseling youth in the Tacoma Public Schools through a local nonprofit, Hilltop Health Ministries. She is also actively involved in a Latino community group and scholarship committee, the Latino Education Alliance. Currently employed by the Metropolitan Development Council as a Pre-College TRIO Advisor at Mt. Tahoma High School.
A graduate from Western Washington University's Human Service program. Worked for one year as a case manager in a transitional housing project for homeless women and children through a nonprofit in Bellingham, WA. Extensive training and experience in the areas of domestic violence and communication. Previously worked as a para-educator with Middle School students in the Federal Way School District. Currently employed as a pre-college TRIO advisor with the Metropolitan Development Council and specifically working with the students at Lincoln High School.
