Pre-major Students Overview
If you have not yet applied to a major — such as psychology or urban studies, or a program like business or social welfare — you are considered a pre-major student. Pre-majors can be first-year students, sophomores, juniors or, in rare instances, seniors.
As a pre-major, you can find academic advising in General Education and on UW Tacoma websites for areas of study you are considering. Some majors are competitive — there are only a certain number of seats for them and students need to apply — others are open.
Take a look at the websites that list the required courses or choices in the majors that interest you. Doing so will give you an idea of what electives to take on your way. Enjoy!
