Learning Outcomes
Global Honors students will:
- Demonstrate deep engagement with international history, culture, and contemporary challenges, in the core courses; understand connections between the local and the global, in Global Honors coursework and capstone projects
- Present their learning experiences from study abroad to the UWT community
- Demonstrate competence in interdisciplinary perspectives and synthesis in completing a senior capstone project, and thus be better prepared for graduate studies and/or careers
- Demonstrate enhanced skills in research, critical thinking, writing, working cooperatively, and oral communication
- Articulate their interpretation of global citizenship through a reflection essay
- Enrich their studies in their majors, with a broad interdisciplinary and international academic curriculum and study abroad experience that emphasizes interconnectedness
Assessment of Learning Outcomes
(Numbers in parentheses correspond to the Learning Outcomes each assesses)
- Papers and projects in Global Honors core seminars, maintaining a 3.5 overall grade point average (1)(4)
- Presentation on study abroad in Fall Quarter (2)
- Completion of a capstone project under the supervision of a faculty adviser, earning a 3.5 minimum grade (Three options for capstone project: thesis, project, or community service with reflection paper) (3)(4)(6)
- Presentation at the annual Spring Global Honors Colloquium (4)
- Developmental assessment: essay written on entering the Global Honors Program on the student's personal definition of global citizenship, and essay on the same topic as student is graduating (5)
