Global Honors Alumni Thesis to be Presented at Conference
Global Honors graduate, Melina Young (Hurst), will present her Global Honors thesis at the Association for Consumer Research (ACR) Asia-Pacific Conference in India in January 2009. The title of her thesis is, "Global Standardization of Advertizing-- The Case of High-Involvement Products: A Content Analysis." Congratulations Melina!
Global Honors Student Helps Launch UWT/MSU Journalism Exchange Program Publication
Meagan Murphy Ross visited Moscow, Russia last spring for the first portion of a journalism exchange. This fall the students from Russia came to UW Tacoma to complete this publication which can be seen here: http://courses.washington.edu/uwtruss/
Global Honors Registers New Voters
For two weeks prior to the Oct. 4th voter registration deadline, Global Honors students coordinated and staffed a Voter Registration table. More than 150 new voters were registered through this effort. Thanks to everyone who was able to help and thanks to the new voters!

GH Director Claudia Gorbman gives plenary lecture

GH Director Claudia Gorbman giving the plenary lecture at the international SCREEN conference for film studies, in Glasgow on July 6. She spoke on "Subjectivity and Film Music." The film clip in the picture comes from Kurosawa's 1950 classic IKIRU.
Global Honors student awarded Gift of Service
Our own Bonnie Rico is a 2008 recipient of the Gift of Service Award. The Gift of Service is an annual award for UWT students. The award recognizes students who make outstanding contributions to the development and success of UW Tacoma and/or the community at large. Bonnie and other recipients will be honored at the upcoming Spring Celebration, Wednesday, May 21, from 12:30-2:00 p.m., at the Longshoreman's Hall. Come one come all!
Research Colloquium A Success
Six seniors presented their capstone work for Global Honors on May 15th in the Carwein Auditorium. This was an opportunity for the students to share the interesting discoveries they have made through the Global Honors program. All of the presenters should be proud of the hard work they have put in to their educations over the last two years. Congrats seniors!


Global Honors student receives full ride scholarship for study abroad

Dr. Josh Tenenberg recently published a paper in the International Journal of Human Computer Systems: Special Issue on Social and Collaborative Aspects of Software Development. His paper applies theoretical frameworks and methods from natural resource commons governance to the problem of software team management.
