The University of Washington, Tacoma is committed to providing growth and development opportunities for our employees. In harmony with this commitment, we attempt to coordinate at least one formal Training & Development course at the Tacoma campus each quarter. We also arrange for informational seminars regarding UW Benefits, Investments, Family Resources and other Work/Life topics.

Professional development is an essential part of an employee's job at UW Tacoma and benefits both the institution and the individual. Layoff Resources

To support staff who may be impacted by layoff as well as remaining staff, Human Resources has developed and compiled a list of resources that staff are encouraged to take advantage of during this time of transition. Some resources are applicable to both groups while others are more tailored to meet the specific needs of one of these groups. UWT New Staff Orientation

All new UWT staff are required to attend. UWT-specific information regarding history/culture, policies & procedures, and contact information/resources is shared with new staff to help them settle into their new positions as smoothly as possible. After the UWT orientation, a representative from the Benefits Office in Seattle will help you better understand your Benefits materials and how to complete any of the forms. In general, the New Staff Orientation is scheduled for the last Friday of each month. If you would like to attend the orientation, please send a message to Iris Marx at: imarx@u.washington.edu.

UW CareLink Seminars

UW CareLink is our Faculty and Staff Assistance Program. In addition to providing individual counseling, UW CareLink also provides training sessions to departmental and campus-wide groups. A variety of topics are offered and these presentations can be held at a time and place convenient for your group, with a minimum of 8 employees in attendance.
