Training and Development

Additional UW Training Resources

The University of Washington, Tacoma is committed to providing growth and development opportunities for our employees. In harmony with this commitment, we attempt to coordinate at least one formal Training & Development course at the Tacoma campus each quarter. We also arrange for informational seminars regarding UW Benefits, Investments, Family Resources and other Work/Life topics.

Professional development is an essential part of an employee's job at UW Tacoma and benefits both the institution and the individual. While the responsibility for career and professional development rests with each staff member, UW Tacoma provides its employees with a variety of resources and assistance in reaching professional and career goals.

Upcoming Professional Development Opportunities at UWT

UWT Human Resources Department is looking for new and different ways to provide training and development opportunities despite budget reductions. Here are some opportunities for UWT staff…

Good Internal Practices and Fraud Prevention Tips
This important training is being offered at UW Tacoma, sponsored by the Finance Department and Human Resources. We as a campus are now on a regular review schedule with the auditors and they look very closely at internal controls. As such this is an issue we want to get out in front of to insure our compliance.
Travel Procedures
The training involves several components based on your level of experience, and will include training for the new e-Travel process.
Violence Prevention and Response
Preventing violence on campus is a responsibility we all share. UWT volunteer trainers are bringing this training to individual departments and student groups.
Prevention of Sexual Harassment
Attending Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PSH Training) is * REQUIRED * of all university staff! This training is designed to instruct you in identifying and resolving situations of perceived sexual harassment and what laws apply to your employment situation.
Ethics
This important training is required for all UWT employees. This training will help you to understand Washington State's Ethics Law and its application at the university.
Continuing Studies Classes offered to UWT Staff for FREE
Continuing Studies (a.k.a. The Key Bank Professional Development Center) has come forward to offer their exceptional classes and certificate programs to UW Tacoma employees at no cost to participating employees, departments, or the University.
Catalyst Free Computing Workshops at UWS
