How to Apply to the IAS B.A. Program

Plan Ahead

Before you begin, verify the quarters in which new applications are accepted. Complete applications received by the priority application date will be assured of a review; complete applications received after the priority application date will be reviewed on a space-available basis.

Priority Application Dates

Autumn Quarter:May 1
Winter Quarter:November 15
Spring Quarter:February 15

Apply to Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences

Depending on whether you are a current UWT student, a transfer student, a returning student, or an international student, the application form and process may vary.

Current UW Tacoma Students

Current UW Tacoma students may apply to IAS using the Declare/Change Major form. You will need both the completed form and a personal statement. When you declare IAS as your major, you will also need to declare a concentration using the same form.

New and Returning UW Tacoma Students

Applying for admission to the Bachelor of Arts program is a two-part process requiring application to the University and submission of required supplemental materials.

New UW Tacoma Students
New students must complete an Application for Undergraduate Admission. Access the form using one of these methods:
Returning UW Tacoma Students
If you were previously enrolled at UW Tacoma, submit a Returning Student Application in lieu of the Application for Undergraduate Admission. Access the form using one of these methods:
International Students
Use the Application for Undergraduate Admission form included in the IAS B.A. Application Kit.Adobe PDF file You must also comply with the International Student Undergraduate admissions requirements.

Mail Your UW Tacoma Application Packet

Your completed application packet will contain:

  1. Printout of online application or a signed, completed copy of the printed application with the $50 application fee
  2. E-mail your personal statement Adobe PDF file to: iasgoals@u.washington.edu
  3. One official transcripts from every college you have attended
  4. High school transcript (only if you studied a foreign language or intermediate algebra in high school)
