Preliminary Approvals
Thesis Committee
The final draft of your thesis must be submitted to your thesis committee by the end of week 5 of your final quarter. The committee will return it to you by the end of week 8 with any required revisions noted. The final version of your thesis is due to the committee by the beginning of week 10. It will be returned to you by the beginning of week 11 (finals week).
Graduate School Thesis Advisor
Submit your thesis for a preliminary evaluation to the Graduate School Thesis Advisor in Seattle as soon as the revisions are made. This is a critical check for correct formatting. Details for this process are in the UW Graduate School's Style and Policy Manual for Theses and Dissertations.
Pay the binding fee for the Graduate School's copies of your thesis at this time in Schmitz Hall on the Seattle Campus. Be sure to keep the green receipt.
Return Via Campus Mail
If you want your thesis returned to UWT via Campus Mail, address it to:

Final Submissions
Once you have made all suggested changes, submit the thesis in its final form to your thesis committee for signatures. Note that MAIS suggests you obtain signatures on your thesis and Request for Degree by the close of business Friday of the last week of class—not finals week. This is to ensure that you can connect with faculty for all signatures.
You must submit three copies of your thesis no later than Thursday of finals week: one for the MAIS Program Archives and two for the Graduate School. You may have the MAIS copy of your thesis bound at the UWT Copy Center. Submit it to the IAS Program Office by the close of business Thursday of week 11 (finals week). Submit two unbound copies of your thesis (including a signed signature page with each) and the green binding receipt to the Graduate School.
Delivery Instructions
You may deliver your thesis to the Graduate School using one of these methods:
- in person
- via US and other mailing services
- via UW Campus Mail
No postage is required for Campus Mail. If using UW Campus Mail, be sure to place your thesis in a secure envelope and enclose proper packaging/labels for its return. You will be notified upon its arrival. Watch deadlines and allow time for the mail to deliver your thesis.
IAS Archive Copy
IAS requires that you also submit a bound copy of your thesis for our archives no later than Thursday of finals week.
Incomplete Information
IMPORTANT: If any component of the thesis submission process is not complete (e.g. thesis, signature page), you will not graduate. Contact the Graduate Program Adviser for details.
