The UW Tacoma Office of Institutional Research and Planning (IRP) was established in June 2006 and operates within the Office of the Chancellor. As of 2008, IRP is comprised of one director, one database analyst, one data analyst, and one research projects analyst. IRP serves as the official information clearinghouse for all internal and external data requests for the University of Washington Tacoma.

James Posey PhD Director of Institutional Research & Planning Jim's position as the Director of Institutional Research & Planning at UW Tacoma involves some heavy lifting. Jim directs a staff of three on various data projects including strategic planning; Web site development; data integrity, data extraction and analysis; new program research; ad hoc data requests and the development of various reports. In addition to many years experience working in the field of higher education research, Jim has a master's degree in Interactive Multimedia from Southern Illinois University and a doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Florida State University. |

Alice Few Data Analyst Being flexible comes in handy when working with data. Having a B.A. in Sociology and Behavioral Sciences from Rice University, Houston Texas is also helpful. Alice started her UW career in 1991 with the Office of Educational Assessment and has been working with student and institutional data ever since. Alice provides data support centering on collecting, analyzing, and confirming UW Tacoma data within the UW universe. Off campus you will most likely find her knitting, gazing at the stars, kayoing and leading a Girl Scout troop on wonderful trips. |

Eric Elkins Database Analyst Don't let Eric's youthful appearance fool you. He comes to UW Tacoma with 17 years of database experience including management, administration, development and design. His enthusiasm and speed in project development mesh well with the other members of his super hero team. Team members' abilities to freeze time, stretch project time lines and muscle their way into the data stew are just a few of the qualities that make this team great. |

Michael Crosby Research Projects Analyst Keeping cool under pressure is a helpful trait when deadlines are approaching. An alumnus of the University of Washington, Michael has over 14 years experience supporting the information needs of the university. He has worked in several administrative and research capacities including information systems analyst, technical writer, data manager, and research study coordinator. Currently, Michael provides IRP with Web development, project management, data analysis and reporting. |
