Welcome:

University of Washington Tacoma believes that access to data and information about the campus and its students helps advance the understanding, planning, operation, evaluation, and improvement of the University. The effective use of data, strongly coupled to the overall mission of the University, directly influences the success of students, faculty, the University, and the local community.

Freshman Facts

In 2006, UW Tacoma welcomed its first entering freshman class. This was a milestone for the University as it departed from its original mission to support transfer students who wanted to continue their higher education studies. Today, students attending UW Tacoma as freshmen don't all enter directly from high school though most do (82%). Some freshman are returning to complete their first year or are transfer students.

Student Surveys

Autumn quarter marks the start of a new year of campus activities. Entering freshmen, new and returning undergraduates and graduate students are offered an opportunity to provide feedback on their expectations for the coming year via surveys. To view the results of previous surveys, visit the D&I survey page.

Autumn 2011 Students

At the beginning of each autumn quarter, the University gathers facts about students entering the University for the first time as well as students returning for another academic year of studies. The Census Day report compiles these data to provide students, faculty, and administrators a snapshot of information about UW Tacoma's student population.

UW Tacoma's student population continues to grow. In autumn quarter 2010, 3331 students registered for classes while for autumn 2011, that total increased by 331 to 3662. The two charts below breakdown the student population by class level and race/ethnicity for autumn 2011:
