Announcing Extended Evening Hours

The Library is now open later, per students’ request

The Library is pleased to announce extended evening hours for Winter Quarter, on Mondays through Thursdays and on Sundays. These hours will start January 7th. Our new open hours will be:

Monday - Thursday: 7 am - midnight
Friday: 7 am - 5 pm
Saturday: 9 am - 5 pm
Sunday: 9 am - 9 pm

Please note that the extended hours are limited to current students, faculty, and staff, and a valid Husky ID card will be needed to access the library after 9pm. Our website will always list current Library hours, as well as days we will be closed for holidays or during interim between quarters.

The primary motivation behind extending the Library hours was student demand. The Library is pleased to be able to accomodate our students at the hours you need us, which often includes late in the evening, after classes and other personal obligations. However, getting these extended hours was not an easy process. We are grateful to have had the instrumental support of Dr. Jill Purdy, the Executive Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, who called for the additional staffing and funding needed to keep our doors open late.

With this additional funding, we created the new position of Late Evening Services Technician, and we have welcomed D'Andre Williams into that role. He is a familiar face in both our Tioga and Snoqualmie buildings, as a UW Tacoma alumnus and a former Library student worker. Mr. Williams, along with new, additional student workers, will be here to provide assistance and support even late at night.
