Borrowing videos from the UW Libraries
If you are on the UW Tacoma campus and would like to use a video from the Media Collection, please bring the title and call number of the video to the Circulation Desk. Our staff will retrieve the video and check it out to you. You can borrow the video for 7 days, with unlimited renewals. When finished with the video, return it to the Circulation Desk.
If you would like to borrow a video from the UW Libraries Media Center or the UW Bothell Campus Library, you can page it through the UW Library Catalog using the "Request/Place Hold" function, fill out our online scheduling form, or send an email to taclibav@u.washington.edu. Some Bothell videos can only be requested through our online scheduling form or by email taclibav@u.washington.edu.
Scheduling videos for classroom use
To ensure that videos are available to show in your class, schedule them in advance by either submitting a request through our on-line scheduling form or by sending an email to taclibav@u.washington.edu.
If you send an email, include your name, the video title(s) and call number(s), the class, and the date(s) and time(s) you need the videos. Allow at least 24 hours to schedule a video from the UW Tacoma Media Collection. A video requested from another campus requires at least one week advance notice. You will receive an email when the video is be ready for you to pick up at the Circulation Desk, generally at least one day prior to the date of your class.
Similar to books, videos can be placed on course reserve. Videos on course reserve are checked out for library use only, except when the faculty member who placed them on reserve needs to use one in a class. Because these titles do not circulate out of the library, students are given increased access to high-use, class-related videos. You may place videos shown in class on course reserve through our online scheduling form or by sending an email with the titles of the videos to taclibav@u.washington.edu. Videos will be placed on video course reserve for up to one quarter.
Faculty from another UW campus who would like to borrow videos from the Media Collection should contact their local media center, whose staff will coordinate the inter-library exchange of items. The UW LIbraries Media Center handles circulation and is the primary collection of media on the UW Seattle campus, while the UW B othell Campus Library serves the UW Bothell/Cascadia Campuses.
