The Dream is Still Alive: 50 Years and Counting Monday, January 21, 2013 The 2013 Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Breakfast is built around celebration of the 50 years since Martin Luther King's historic and moving "I Have a Dream" speech. This gathering will honor the message of those empowering words as well as the progress they inspired. The breakfast will feature community recognition by way of the Dream Awards as well as local performing artists. Our keynote speaker, Carolyn McKinstry, will share her experiences as a survivor of the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in 1963 and the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s. McKinstry's experiences are relevant to today's challenges and successes towards the realization of King's "Dream" 50 years later. Online registration for this event is now closed, admission is available at the door for $20 (space permitting).
