Unity Breakfast Frequently Asked Questions

Below you can find a list of frequently asked questions/answers about the annual MLK Unity Breakfast. If you have questions that aren't answered below please email us at mlkuwt@uw.edu e-mail link or call at 253-692-4501.

Where is the event located?

The event will be taking place in William W. Philip Hall located at 1918 Pacific Avenue on the University of Washington Tacoma Campus. Check-in will occur at the entrance in the center of campus directly across from the library and adjacent to the Grand Staircase and the Cragle parking lot.

How do I get to campus?

The UW Tacoma campus is located across the street from the Washington State History Museum and Union Station in downtown Tacoma.

To reach campus, from I-5 take the I-705/Tacoma City Center exit (exit 133). From I-705 take the South 21st Street exit. Turn left at the traffic light onto 21st Street. Go through the light at Pacific Avenue, and the campus is on the right.

Where can I park?

There are lots of parking options near the University of Washington Tacoma. The most convenient option is the Cragle Parking lot located on the corner of 21st and C street. For other parking locations close to campus please visit our transportation website.

Do I need a ticket?

No. If you have registered and paid prior to the event or are sitting at a sponsored table you will just need to check-in at the door. If you haven't preregistered for this year's event please visit our registration page or contact us at 253-692-4501. We strongly encourage pre-registering as the event space is limited.

What time do the doors open?

The doors will open at 7:30 am. The event will start at 8:00 am.

Is there assigned seating?

If you've sponsored a table your seats are reserved, names of those sittting at your table should be sent to mlkuwt@uw.edu at least a week prior to the event. If names or spaces are not reserved in advance, the table will still have sponsorship information, however any seats not reserved in advance will be opened as available seating for general admission attendees. This ensures no table seating is unutilized.

While most seats are at a table, in order to maximize the space and make the event open to the maximum number of people, there is some general seating. To ensure the best seating possible, you should plan to arrive early. Unsponsored or unreserved seating is open on a first-come, first-serve basis the day of the event. There will be volunteers on hand to assist with seating.

This event has rarely been cancelled due to weather conditions. Should inclement weather become an issue, this website will be updated.
