Exhibit: "Unfettered Access: Culture, Civil Rights and Censorship"

Through Wednesday, Oct. 31
UW Tacoma Library

Censorship has been around for a long time: It ruined Socrates, inspired Louis XIV to invade Holland and kept the infamous Bastille prison full for 150 years. The UW Tacoma Library presents a series of displays on the history of censorship, frequent attempts to suppress minority viewpoints and the perspectives of authors whose books have been banned or challenged. Presented as part of the September Project, a series on freedom of speech, freedom of the press and censorship, in partnership with King's Books and the Pierce County Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union.
