Memorial Day Commemoration

UW Tacoma will honor members of the military at its second-annual Memorial Day recognition program. Speakers include Rep. Lawrence Seaquist of the 26th Legislative District, a former U.S. Navy warship captain and Pentagon strategist; and UW Tacoma Advisory Board member William Moore, an Army veteran who served in Vietnam. Voices from the Camp: Japanese Internment

Jim Morishima, Ph.D., founder of the Asian American Studies program at the University of Washington, will share his personal experience as a Japanese camp internee during World War II. Morishima established and directed the Asian American Studies program in the 1970s and was associate dean of the College of Education through much of the 1980s.
