Tacoma's mayoral candidates speak on urban issues

Tacoma's mayoral candidates, Jim Merritt and Marylin Strickland, will speak on timely issues facing the city of Tacoma in an open forum organized by Civitas, the student-run civics organization of the University of Washington Tacoma.

Dr. Mark Pendras, assistant professor of Urban Studies, will moderate. Students and community members are invited to question the candidates on land use, education, transportation and other issues of concern.

The candidates will speak on Friday, Oct. 16, 5-6:30 p.m., in the Milgard Assembly Room of the William Philip Hall on the University of Washington Tacoma campus. The event is free and open to the public. For questions, contact Meghan Howey, at uwt_civitas@uw.edu.
