Bill Hagens on Navigating Public Policy

Oct. 27 – 6-8 p.m.
WCG 110

Former Washington State Legislature healthcare policy analyst Bill Hagens will give a lecture, "Healthcare policymaking at the state level." Hagens is one of many key speakers who will present as part of the Navigating Public Policy program offered by the University of Washington Tacoma KeyBank Professional Development Center.

Annual Crafts Sale

Oct. 28 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
GWP Atrium

Browse the Annual Crafts Sale sponsored by UW Tacoma Fiber Friends and purchase a gift or two. All proceeds will be donated to organizations providing breast cancer patient care and research in our area. Free and open to the public.

Environmental Science Seminar

Nov. 2 – 12:30-1:20 p.m.

John Stark, professor and director of Washington State University Puyallup Research and Extension Center, will present a lecture, "Pesticide mixtures: Do they have a negative effect on salmon and other aquatic organisms?" Economic Development and Higher Ed Summit

A panel of Washington state legislators will speak about the importance of higher education to economic development in the state and abroad. Open to the public and free of charge.

Husky Day

Nov. 7 – 10 a.m.
Carwein Auditorium

For prospective freshmen, an introduction to UW Tacoma's academic programs, the financial aid process and student life. Campus tours will be available, as well as tours of our on-campus housing options at Court 17.

Husky Huddle

Nov. 7 – 12:30-4 p.m.
Longshoremen's Hall

Immediately following Husky Days, make your way up the hill to Longshoremen's Hall for a few refreshments and a lot of team spirit. Join students in front of the big screen to cheer on the Huskies as they face the UCLA Bruins.

Retired CIA analyst Ray McGovern speaks on U.S. intelligence policy

Nov. 15 – 7-9 p.m.
Carwein Auditorium

Retired CIA analyst Ray McGovern will present a lecture, "Does torture work? Let's have both sides of the story." McGovern, a frequently featured guest of radio and TV political coverage, is a co-founder of Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity, an organization formed to contest U.S. government claims about Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. Free event, open to the public.

Graduate and Professional Studies Education Fair

Nov. 18 – 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Philip Hall

Talk with representatives from graduate and professional schools throughout the state about their study programs and admissions process. This free event is open to the general public.

Campus Open House

Nov. 19 – 3:30-6 p.m.

Representatives from undergraduate and graduate programs will be available to meet with prospective students. It's a great time to take a campus tour and stroll Tacoma's free downtown ArtWalk the same day./p>
