- Harry
Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
by J.K. Rowling—do I really need to say anything?
The biggest phenomenon to hit since Star Wars….and
the entire series (to date) is available right here
at the UW Tacoma Library.
- Green
Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss—an essential
read for all children. And all adults. Especially
if read out loud, in concert. Come on, everyone say
it together: “Sam I am!”
- Holes
by Louis Sachar—the 1999 Newbery Medal Award
winner for most distinguished contribution to American
literature for children. This is a fantastical tall
tale that emphasizes friendship and family, one of
several on our shelves by Sachar. If you like the
book, see the movie!
- Mufaro’s
Beautiful Daughters by John Steptoe—one
of many Caldecott Medal award winners in the library,
this African tale highlights lessons in diversity
and understanding. What’s a Caldecott winner?
Every year, librarians across the country select the
best American picture book for children.
Come check out a Caldecott winner today!
- The
Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales
by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith—turns traditional
fairy tales on their head! You’ll laugh and
laugh and want to check it out again and again. And
you can!
