Global Honors course open to freshmen and sophomores

Global Honors, in a first step at expanding to accommodate the four-year undergraduate experience, is offering a brand new course this spring quarter to qualified freshmen and sophomores. The course will offer lower-division students an intellectual challenge that's interdisciplinary and timely, organized around a general theme each time it's taught. The course's maiden voyage will concern the theme of maps—not only maps of places, but the concept of "mapping"—reducing aspects of the world to a graphic scheme. "Maps of the World and the Human Mind" will be taught by Professor George Mobus (Institute of Technology) and a few guest lecturers. Faculty and staff are encouraged to put their best and brightest lower-division students in touch with Tanya Ulsted in Global Honors at 2-4770 or tanyau@u.washington.edu. [Claudia Gorbman]
