Temporary closure of Fitness Center

The campus Fitness Center has been closed until summer funding is determined. The university funded the center on a temporary basis through June 30, 2007, and the Services and Activities Fee Committee has already agreed to take over funding the center beginning in Autumn Quarter 2007. In July, the committee will meet to decide whether to fund the center on a supplemental basis for summer quarter based on usage figures from June 2007. Until that decision is made, the facility will remain closed. [Alicia Lewis]

Enrollment Services leadership changes

Administrative roles in Enrollment Services have changed while the university seeks a permanent leader for the department. Derek Levy, currently the interim associate vice chancellor for Student Affairs, has been named the interim associate vice chancellor for Enrollment Services, a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal. The interim appointment will give the campus time to consider structural and organizational issues in Enrollment Services and prepare for a national search for a permanent department head. Wanda Curtis, formerly director of Admissions, was recently named coordinator of educational partnerships. She will help UW Tacoma expand its agreements, enrollments and partnerships with community colleges, high schools and the military in the South Sound.
