BSN: How to Apply

Completed applications received by February 15 will receive a decision by April 30. Applications completed after that priority date will be considered as space allows and receive a decision in approximately 8-12 weeks. NOTE: several items are required to complete the application. Transcripts may take several weeks to arrive. Applications will not be reviewed for admission until all application materials have been received. Pre-major admission is offered in all quarters. Applicants may complete prerequisites or required electives prior to beginning required nursing coursework, but they are strongly encouraged to contact the Nursing program office first. |

Plan Ahead
Applying for admission to the BSN program is a two-step process. An application must be submitted to University; other required supplemental materials go to the Nursing program directly.
Completed applications received by the priority application date will be assured of a review; completed applications received after the priority application date will be reviewed on a space-available basis.
Step One: Apply to the University
Depending on your student status, the application form and process may vary:
- New Students
- New students transfer to UW Tacoma's BSN program from a community college RN program and must:
- Complete the UW Application for Transfer Admission online
through ApplyWeb.
- Complete the UW Application for Transfer Admission online
- Returning Students
- Students who were previously enrolled in the UW Tacoma BSN program must submit a Returning Student Application (instead of the Application for Transfer Admission) using one of these methods:
- Complete the UW Returning Student Application online
through ApplyWeb. - Print, complete, and mail the Returning Student Application form.

- Complete the UW Returning Student Application online
- International Students
- Use the Application for Transfer Admission form included in the Nursing Application Kit.
You must also comply with the International Student Undergraduate Admissions Information.
Step Two: Get the BSN Application Materials
- New Students and International Students
- Applying to the University, as explained above, is the first part of the two-step process. Other application materials (letters of recommendation, résumé, and essay) will go directly to the BSN program.
- Print a copy of the Nursing Application Kit.
It has everything you need, including instructions. - Complete the criminal background check (note the $69 fee). If you choose, the background check may wait until after confirmation that you have been accepted to the program.

- Returning Students
- Previously enrolled in the UW Tacoma BSN program should contact the program office to inquire if any updated application materials are required.
