BSN: Not a Registered Nurse?
A UW Tacoma Nursing applicant must have already earned an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from a community college or have been awarded a Diploma in Nursing by a hospital-based nursing school. To enter the BSN program, a student must have a current Washington State RN license.
ADN grads who have not yet taken the NCLEX-RN examination may apply for provisional admission.
Community College RN Programs
After graduating from a community college Associate Degree in Nursing program and passing the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for Registered Nursing, a student would then be considered for admission to UW Tacoma's BSN.
There are many South Sound community college RN programs, including the following:
- Tacoma Community College

- Pierce College (Puyallup campus)

- Highline Community College

- South Puget Sound Community College

- Olympic College

- Centralia College

- Grays Harbor Community College

- Lower Columbia College

Four-year BSN Program
UW Seattle's School of Nursing
offers a four-year BSN path that does not require an RN license for admission.
