PROGRAM OVERVIEW

With this course you will be able to get started using GIS.  A three-day workshop designed for people in a wide range of jobs such as Planning, Public Works and Environmental staff that have little or no prior GIS experience but need to provide maps for projects.

GIS classes are held in the GIS computer labs on the UW Tacoma campus. Every student uses a separate computer.  ARC GIS software is provided during the class for student projects.

This new hands-on three-day course introduces you to ArcGIS and provides the foundation for becoming a successful ArcView user. You will learn how to use ArcMap, ArcCatalog, and ArcToolbox and explore how these applications work together to provide a complete GIS software solution. Covers fundamental GIS concepts as well as how to create, edit, and geo-reference spatial data. You will learn how to manipulate tabular data, query a GIS database, and present data clearly and efficiently using maps and charts.

Cost for the 3 day Workshop is $595. A total of 2.1 CEUs (21 clock/contact hours) will be granted. This program has been approved for clock hours for teacher recertification.
