PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Also offered in Seattle>>

Society has become dependent on secure operation of global information systems and communications networks. Increasingly, society has become vulnerable to a broad range of deliberate and unintentional disruptions in the management of these complex infrastructures. Viruses, attacks on Internet service providers, and the theft of code from public and private organizations have demonstrated the vulnerability of these systems. These vulnerabilities come from both inside and outside the corporation. Experts estimate these disruptions cost industry billions of dollars yearly. According to the Computer Security Institute, organizations need comprehensive data and Internet security strategies and more professionals trained to implement and administer enterprise-wide information security programs. This certificate program was developed to prepare professionals to meet these challenges by:

  • Utilizing industry experts who share their professional experience and provide hands-on instruction.
  • Introducing technologies, policies, practices and government-sponsored initiatives for safeguarding global computer and communication networks.
  • Providing a forum for the exchange of ideas with instructors, guest lecturers and other students plus the opportunity to establish new professional relationships within the security industry.
