PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Designed for Spanish teachers who already have a solid understanding of the Spanish language, but who want to fine-tune their communication skills and learn more about Hispanic culture. It uses the immersion approach. Content can vary, depending on the needs of the individual participants, but it will always contain the following elements: intensive practice with advanced conversation and composition, review of the more difficult aspects of Spanish grammar, syntax and orthography, classes on different aspects of Hispanic culture, including literature, film, music, art and folklore, and pedagogical workshops in which the participants develop and share ideas for teaching language and culture. Cultural topics will vary, depending on the area of expertise of the instructors. Taught by instructors with native ability in Spanish, who have training and experience in second language acquisition. It is not intended to be a course to teach teachers how to teach but, rather, a way for teachers to come together to share ideas and improve their language skills and cultural knowledge. Enrollment is limited to people who are currently teaching Spanish or who have taught Spanish in the past, because participants are expected to be able to draw on personal experience and previous knowledge in many of the class activities.

TSPAN 483 is offered in partnership with the Kukulcán School in Cuernavaca , Mexico . To learn more about the School see www.kukulcan.com.mx .
