MSW: How to Apply

Applying for admission to the Master of Social Work program is a two-part process requiring application to the University of Washington Graduate School and submission of required supplemental materials to the Master of Social Work Program.

Plan Ahead

Make note of the application date for the program(s) in which you wish to apply. Visit UW Tacoma's Application Dates page for details on all graduate programs offered at the Tacoma Campus. Remember, several items are required to complete your application, and items such as transcripts and letters of reference often take several weeks to arrive. NOTE: Your application will not be reviewed for admission until all materials have been received.

Get a Copy of the Application

The 3-year, part-time MSW program application for autumn quarter 2008 admission is now available. Please download the MSW Application Packet and submit all required materials by the final deadline April 24, 2008 to ensure review. Materials received after this date will not be reviewed as the admission cycle will be closed.

Please submit the MSW Application Packet if applying to the part-time Advanced Standing MSW program for winter quarter 2009. The application deadline for Advanced Standing MSW admission is June 30, 2008. Late materials will not be accepted.

Apply to the UW Graduate School

Applying to the UW Graduate School is a part of the MSW application process. All applicants must complete the UW Graduate School application online by April 10, 2008, the last date to submit an application for our MSW program Autumn quarter admission. A copy must be submitted with your application to the UW Tacoma MSW Program.

Mail Your UW Tacoma MSW Application Packet

Your completed application packet will contain these supplemental materials:

1. Printout of online UW Graduate School Application
2. Application for Admission to UW Tacoma Master of Social Work Program form
3. Admission Essay
4. One official transcript from every college or university attended
5. Grade-Point Average Worksheet form
6. Current Résumé
7. Social Service Experience form
8. Three letters of reference
