Mission and Vision

  • DISCOVER
  • LEARN
  • GROW
  • SUCCEED

These four words guide our work and our philosophy about the University of Washington experience for students.

Our Goals:

The Division of Student Affairs is comprised of the following offices and services: The Career Development Center, Disability Support Services, the Student Counseling Center, Student Life and the office of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. All our offices foster growth, learning, engagement, and development of students as individuals and community members. Collectively, Student Affairs advocates on behalf of student needs and concerns, upholds student rights and responsibilities, and builds a strong and just student community.

The Student Affairs offices and its staff serve to facilitate students' progression through successful transitions, identify and remove barriers to student success, enrich and complement student learning, promote students' capacity to make humane and informed decisions, assist students in their discovery of individual strengths and talents, assist students in exploring challenging issues and divergent ideas and opinions in the context of respect for human worth and dignity, create opportunities for intellectual, emotional, personal and professional growth, support the integration of knowledge, experience and skills that will foster effective, purposeful lives.
