If you have encountered a case of misconduct, please review these pages first. Contact Student Affairs if you have questions or need further assistance. |
This can be a stressful process. First of all, remember that the Student Counseling Center offers counseling sessions, free of charge, to all enrolled students. They are an important resource at this University.
All of the procedures and your rights are outlined in the University of Washington Student Conduct
Code
, and you should make sure you understand the steps in the process.
You will be issued a letter by postal mail from the Initiating Officer with the materials and evidence that will be read and heard in your case. The letter will state a date and time for an informal hearing. If you choose not to attend, the hearing will be held in your absence. It is to your benefit to attend and explain your situation. At any time during this process you may request that the matter be referred to the University Disciplinary Committee at UW Seattle.
The informal hearing committee will consist of faculty members, the informal hearing officer, and possibly students. This is a group that, without exception, appreciates truthful, genuine responses.
A sanction may be recommended, and it will again arrive by postal mail. Again, you have the right to appeal the decision to the Faculty Appeal Board at UW Seattle.
If you have questions during the process, please contact the Student Affairs office.
