SAFC Requests

Annual Requests

Annual requests are submitted for services, programs, and activities to be funded with Services and Activities Fees during the 2013-2014 academic year. The annual budgeting process provides the basis for the University of Washington Tacoma Services and Activities Fee Committee (SAFC) recommendations for the distribution of Services and Activities Fees submitted for approval of the Board of Regents in accordance with RCW 28b.15. and the approved Guidelines for the SAFC

According to the SAFC Operational Guidelines, "program and budget proposals considered during the annual budget process will be to fund general annual operating costs necessary to run an organization, department, or service. Annual budgets will not include capital expenditures or planned expenditures for specific events or activities, with the exception of the SAB." "

Contingency Requests

The Services and Activities Fee Committee (SAFC) of 2012-2013 formally invites entities to submit requests for special allocation funding. According to the SAFC Primer, "The special allocation process is designed to provide for capital expenditures or for emergency expenditures that could not be specifically identified or foreseen at the time of the preparation and submission of the annual budget by entities "...identified as a Committee Core Value." Please note that the SAFC will no longer consider contingency requests for new programs, events, or projects.

2012-2013 Winter Contingency Process

Proposals can be submitted through the form on Collegiate Link.

January 7, 2013 (Monday)
Call for Special Contingency Requests.
January 25, 2013 (Friday)
ALL Special Contingency Requests are due by 5:00 PM
February 08, 2013 (Friday)
The SAFC will deliberate on contingency requests. Each applicant will have an opportunity to present their request to SAFC. The SAFC will also send out information on decisions and the appeals process.
February 15, 2013 (Friday)
ALL appeals must be submitted to the SAFC Chair by 12 pm (noon). Appeals will be responded to by this date as well.
March 1, 2013 (Friday)
If necessary, SAFC will conduct appeal hearings on this date.

2013-2014 Annual Allocation Process Timeline

January 21, 2013 (Monday)
Call for Annual Allocation Requests.
February 15, 2013 (Friday)
ALL Annual Allocation Requests are due by 5:00 PM
March 1, 2013 (Friday)
By this date, each proposal is posted on the SAFC website.
March 8, 2013 (Friday) and March 15, 2013 (Friday)
Each applicant will have an opportunity to present their request to SAFC.
April 5, 2013 (Friday)
The SAFC will have deliberations and release preliminary program and budget allocation decisions and the appeals process.
April 19, 2013 (Friday)
ALL appeals must be submitted to the SAFC Chair (safcuwt@uw.edu) by 5:00 PM.
April 26, 2013 (Friday)
If necessary, SAFC will conduct appeal hearings on this date.
May 3, 2013 (Friday)
Appeals will be responded to by this date.
May 10, 2013 (Friday)
The SAFC will send a final letter of funding recommendations to the Chancellor and Board of Regents.

Please keep in mind, it is the responsibility of the applicant(s) to read the SAFC Operational Guidelines and instructions thoroughly to ensure their request is considered for funding. Please contact the SAF Committee with questions.
