Hendrix the Husky - UW Tacoma Mascot

History

In the summer of 2008 the Student Activities Board wondered what it would be like if UW Tacoma had its own mascot; almost immediately their School Spirit & Traditions Chair began working on the project. Working with UW Tacoma's Student & Enrollment Services & Advancement offices, as well as Husky Athletics...nine months later their vision became a reality!

How did Hendrix get his name?

Several "H" names were solicited by members of the UW Tacoma community, some of which included: Hayley, Humphrey & Hilda. These names and more were put on a ballot and students were given the opportunity to vote. Second place was "Hauser" but "Hendrix" was the clear winner. Some say it's a tribute to Seattle rock legend, Jimi Hendrix.
