Rai Nauman Mumtaz was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. After moving to Washington State in 1993, Nauman completed the majority of his secondary education in Tacoma. After graduating from Curtis Senior High School in University Place, he went on to Pierce College Fort Steilacoom to complete his Associates of Science Degree. Continuing his studies in Higher Education, Nauman transferred to UW Tacoma in 2005. There, he completed a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, and is currently working towards completing a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies. Nauman is concurrently enrolled in medical school at the International University of Health Sciences School of Medicine. Nauman plans to become not only a physician with specialties in Orthopedic Surgery and Pediatrics, but a Chancellor/President of a university as well. Beyond school and work, Nauman loves to spend time with family, friends, watching Disney movies, and cheering on the Huskies, Seahawks, Sounders, and Mariners to victory. Nauman's focus within ASUWT is to find innovative and creative methods to ensure students' voices are properly represented within the academic arena, but externally as well to the campus administration, Board of Regents, and State Legislature.
