Career Development

"Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life." - Confucius

Career Development assists undergraduate and graduate students and alumni in developing, evaluating, and implementing career and educational decisions. Our staff is here to support students' endeavors toward a rewarding college experience and successful professional growth beyond UW Tacoma.

The Career Kickstarter is a 2-day series of workshops designed for students and alumni preparing for the next stage of their career after the UW Tacoma. Join us for any and all of these sessions that will cover the following:

Tuesday, June 16 - 9am-4pm

Finding Your Fit - Morning Session
In the job search, fit is everything. Employers know they can hire for fit and train for skills, so it is your job to determine with whom that best fit lies. This session will examine how to search for jobs based on this fit so that your job search will be successful.

Cultivating Connections - Afternoon Session
We have all heard it said before: it's all about who you know. Your networking is bigger than you think, so this session will help in identifying who is in your networking, how to develop these connections, and ways to unlock new connections.

Wednesday, June 17 - 9am-4pm

Looking Great on Paper - Morning Session
Every job will require some combination of a resume, cover letter, and job application. This session will examine these components of your application and how you can best represent yourself to stand out and get that interview.

Impressing in Person - Afternoon Session
Employers are not just hiring employees; they are hiring people. Making a good impression in person is critical to landing that next job, but that impression turns into your professional brand in the workplace. This session will talk about success in the interview and into the job.

***Due to technical difficulties, registration is temporarily unavailable. Check back on June 2nd to register!***
