New Student Orientation
New Student Orientation presents new students with opportunities to explore UW Tacoma and the Tacoma communities prior to beginning classes. Students will:
- Become more familiar with the campus
- Identify the resources available aiding in their academic success
- Begin developing relationships with our dynamic faculty and staff
We welcome students to bring parents and family members to New Student Orientation as well. The Department of Student Services will be offering sessions dedicated specifically to their role as members of the UW Tacoma Community.
Autumn New Student Orientation
Autumn Freshman New Student Orientation Dates:
All Freshman New Student Orientation sessions will be held from 9:00 am-3:00 pm. Check in begins at 8:00 am.

Autumn Transfer New Student Orientation Dates:
The following sessions will be held from 9:00 am-1:00 pm. Check in begins at 8:00 am.

The following sessions will be held from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm. Check in begins at 3:00 pm.

- July 24, 2012
The following majors will be hosting group academic advising during New Student Orientation:
- Business: June 19th & June 26th
- Criminal Justice: June 19th, July 5th, & July 26th
- Healthcare Leadership: July 5th & July 26th
- Nursing: June 26th & July 24th
- Social Welfare: June 26th, July 10th, & July 24th
Please Note: All other majors require one-on-one academic advising. Please contact the Academic Advising Center to schedule an appointment with your adviser.
