The Institute of Technology has a number of scholarships available for incoming undergraduate students. The application deadline for Autumn Quarter 2009 is July 1, 2009. Here is the complete application, including instructions on how to apply.
Henry T. Schatz UWT Institute of Technology Endowed Scholarship
The Henry T. Schatz UWT Institute of Technology Endowed Scholarship is awarded to high achieving undergraduate student(s) in the Institute of Technology at the University of Washington Tacoma. This award is given to allow students more time to devote to the rigors of analytical and logical studies and thus develop their "creativity and critical thinking" ability.
The scholarship is awarded to new students beginning their studies in the Institute of Technology at the University of Washington Tacoma and selection shall be based on academic merit and demonstrated financial need. Financial need shall be determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid. The award will be for one academic year.
Henry Schatz is the current President of General Plastics Manufacturing Co., founded in Tacoma by his father in 1941. He is a long-time supporter of the University of Washington Seattle, where he graduated in 1964 with a B.S.M.E. He has been an enthusiastic advocate of the University of Washington Tacoma since its inception and continues to be one of its most ardent supporters.
Simpson Investment Company Endowed Scholarship
The Simpson Investment Company Endowed Scholarship provides assistance to undergraduate students in the study of math, science, and technology at the University of Washington Tacoma’s Institute of Technology. This scholarship is awarded to entering students and is renewable for an additional year of undergraduate study. Selection shall be based on academic merit and demonstrated financial need. Financial need shall be determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid. Preference will be given to students who have participated in the Simpson Math and Science Internship (as long as such program exists).
